McKayla Rose Maroney has retired as an American artist and gymnast. She was awarded the silver and gold medals in vault contests of both the American gymnastic team and The Fierce Five in the Summer Olympics in 2012. Early life. McKayla Rose Maroney was born in Aliso Viejo, California, on the 9th of December, 1995, the daughter of Erin Maroney and Mike Maroney (died 2019). McKayla has Irish Catholic heritage.
